Timeless: Newsstand Chicago & Main

I captured this timeless everyday scene during the winter of 2020. While businesses in the area struggled to stay open, I chose this scene to mark the strength and resolve of area business owners to survive. Always a newsstand, this business has remained an anchor to the Main Street community in Evanston, Illinois for decades. I used a "retro" color palette and muted values to convey a contemporary image with timeless quality. By painting only shapes beyond the window, and using warm glazing I intended to invite the viewer to enter and explore.
