In January of this year (2021), I took some pears and my camera out to an undeveloped piece of land on a misty, grey day. Usually I would not enjoy being out in, much less making art in, this kind of weather. But the temperature was fine and the mist was light. I ended up having a great time posing my pear friends in various spots and photographing them (I'm a fair weather plein air painter only!). When working with this composition at a pear's-eye-view, I personified this piece of fruit, since they do remind me of bodies, and thought about how brave this pear seemed as it sat (or stood?) on a rock in an open field, exposed to the elements. This was a resolute pear for sure!
