Paradise Found

This is the terminal point of a popular trail in the Chisos Mountains of Big Bend National Park. I have hiked it many times in my life, and on a recent visit with my adult daughter, the light was especially great. The hike starts in desert-like surroundings and descends into more and more lush (for Texas) vegetation and one begins to follow the creek's path around giant boulders until coming to this all-rock opening with the valley (or desert) floor visible many hundreds of feet below.
