Balqis 2020

Oil is the medium. This is a painting of my mother, Balqis ( from a favorite photograph) and the year 2020 for when it was painted. I'm inspired to capture her image repeatedly - as a way to see and recreate her face for myself in the only way I know how (she passed away 10 years ago). I love her expression in this picture that I attempted to paint - there is a sadness, gentleness and beauty that is hard to put in words, or even capture in a painting, but I continue to try.
