Clair the Cow

I started this painting making small plein air sketches among cows in their own environment. This can be a cowshed or in the meadow. I like to observe cows and get to know the unique personalities of these exquisite animals. In my studio I prefer that the cow has all the attention and the leading role in the painting. I decided to emphasize that even more by painting Clair in a large format as well. Now all the eyes go to Clair. I want to inspire people to pay more attention to the ‘forgotten’ animals that are used for our consumption.
