Ella and Lily the Cows

I started this painting making small plein air sketches among cows in their own environment. This can be a cowshed or in the meadow. I like to observe cows and get to know the unique personalities of these exquisite animals. I observed that Ella and Lily are best friends.That inspired me to paint them. A lot of people don’t know that cows not only recognize one another as individuals but have friends they prefer. I want to inspire people to pay more attention to the ‘forgotten’ animals that are used for our consumption. To show them that camaraderie between cows exists, just like between people.
